Color Theory Workshop at the Mill, April 13th
We’ll be cozying up over at the Mill in Glen Arbor on Sunday, April 13th from 3:30-6pm.
I did a color workshop last year and have had inquiries on doing it again so here we go! I've been told by designers, florists, artists and and others who want to grow their creative juices that they want to know more about color - this is for you!! We'll be focusing on just that for this workshop. I've learned a lot about color through the last twenty-three years of painting and teaching - I would love to share some of what I've learned with you. If you’ve taken this class before, please indicate in the text box at checkout.
I will tailor the class to the level of those attending as best as possible once I know who will be joining but generally, we will cover several different kinds of color exercises that will get us thinking about color in some pretty wonderful and different ways. One focus will be on creating your own specific colors based on three primary colors and then working on saturation with white and black. We'll work with a saturated and unsaturated set of primaries. The course will delve a bit into the relativity of color and how they change depending on what is around them, what makes some colors come forward and some fade into the background, the way warm and cool colors effect the tone of a work…as much as we have time for. The second part of the workshop, we will focus on creating your own color story and what that means. Color is deeply personal and we will take some time for each person to get more acquainted with their own personal style. Finding your own voice as a creative is so important. I'm hoping this class will be more than just technical knowledge. My goal is for you to walk away knowing yourself a little better and being able to tap into what you want to communicate a little easier.
All the materials needed will be provided for the workshop and we will be using acrylics for the different exercises.
There is a limited number of spots and this has been in high demand. If you sign up, you’ll receive an email the weekend before the event with any further details you would need to know about. The cafe at the Mill is open until 4pm so those interested in a latte and something from the bakery will be able to order first thing. Their afternoon “Cabin Fever” options are available from 3-6pm so if you’d rather paint with a glass of wine or a savory snack, that will be an option as well! I'm so looking forward to this and working with you.
