Field Flowers ~ Framed
One of the pieces I worked on the last day at Tusen Takk . There’s a farm out by Atwood called Bolt’s Farm. I went out that way for sunflowers in late August last summer. It was raining. I picked a bunch of bright suns for a piece I was working on but it was the Queen Anne’s lace, thistles and huge overgrown pile of burdock that sealed the deal for me. I asked him if I could pick them - he said as many as I wanted. I’ll probably go back this year and do it all over again. It all seems different every year and also the same. There’s a Good Samaritan thrift shop going in the same direction and I’d go and check in on their linens. I bought a blue and white striped table cloth there one year. Those years of blue and white striped tables stick in my brain like life broken open - lonely but sometimes bright, joy and sadness, courage and fear together mixed in to the pot. Things are never quite so simple, we are everything all at once.
A monoprint is painted with printing inks on plexiglass and then goes through the printing press once (or in this case twice :) It is 22x29 and printed on acid free Stonehenge printing paper
