Sky Light, August 19, 2024

$30.00

This local event on Monday, August 19, 2024 will be hosted by Foxglove Farm, just north of Sutton's Bay. The centennial farm, with views of lake Michigan on one side and cherry groves on the other, was lovingly restored and just opened for weddings and events last year. We'll be starting off the evening at 6pm with refreshments and a chance to view the new collection entitled “Sky lights”. It will include paintings inside and hopefully an interactive installation outside. Programming will start at 7pm when I will share briefly about the inspiration for the project followed by writer and artist Lindsay Gardner with beautiful stories and poems of her own.  Around 7:30pm we'll be welcoming The Improvisation Trio (usually Quartet!) with Paul Erhard and Betsy Soukup on double bass and Yali Rivlin dance and saxophone. I had the pleasure of watching and listening to them perform this summer already and it is really a transcendent experience.

The evening will bring together the visual arts, spoken word, music, dance and a chance to slow down and experience our August full moon. It is the Sturgeon Moon, known for strength and resilience and is also our first super moon of the year (the moon’s closest approach to earth in its elliptical orbit, making the moon look larger and brighter). Full moons can be a chance to acknowledge and surrender what no longer serves, taking a moment to be grateful for what has unfolded and to heal what doesn’t need to continue into the future. I’m so excited to bring all this beautiful creativity together - it’s going to be magical.

During the evening, pieces from the installation will be available for purchase. The work will stay hung until the end of the concert around 8-8:30pm when any purchases made can be picked up. All pieces not sold after the evening will be released on the website August 21st.

Your purchase confirmation email is your ticket for the event. We hope you'll join us for this special summer night!
