A hundred ways to kiss the ground 8
These ceramic pieces bring together cross sections of ceramics, printmaking and drawing. They’ve been slab handbuilt out of Michigan clay - each one lovingly constructed to be able to hang on the wall or sit on a shelf. It was an idea I developed ten years ago and it came back to me two winters ago. I started an ongoing project, creating hundreds of ways to celebrate life and the beauty around us, even amidst difficult circumstances. These ten pieces in particular are all inspired from the Sleeping Bear Dune area.
You’ll be receiving a piece that I believe has a special intention attached to it - that of being present in the now and appreciating the small things of beauty.
All pieces are around 5x7 inches and are all approximately 2 inches thick. The color of the clay is lovely toasted. I enjoy the small differences in each one and think they work wonderfully in groups of two or three (or grids of more!). Each image informs the other. There are inevitably differences in each piece due to the application of the underglaze, the clay and also how it responded to the firing. This is the raw beauty of each one. These pieces have a clear glaze coat on the top.
I’ll be doing my best to get these sent out quickly but please expect a 5-7 day delay as I fulfill orders as they come.
